Happy Birthday George!

Today is my fabulous husband's birthday.  What better opportunity to blog about him and introduce you to the man I married October 16, 2010.

George is a saint...seriously.  George has performed more random acts of kindness than I could ever list in this blog.  He's the most kind and generous person I've ever met; in fact he regularly says, "If I die tomorrow I have no doubt where I'm going."  And, he's right...I'm convinced God has an extra plush cloud waiting for him when he makes his grand entrance to heaven.

George loves his family.  He runs himself ragged trying to be everyman to everyone, but, he somehow gets it done and makes everybody feel special in the process.  He decorates his mother's house every year for Halloween, continuing a neighborhood tradition his late father started ages ago.  Thanks to Georgie, his mother's house is still the go-to, most spooktakular house in the neighborhood, just the way his father would want it to be.  Here's a photo of us two Halloweens ago...we dress up in coordinating costumes every year:
George is an amazing father.  When our family united into one big ball of fun last year, he assumed the role of stepfather with ease, and, it now feels like our three children have been together forever.  Before Maddy, Nick, and I arrived on the scene, George was a single father to Gabby for many years.  Simply put, he's doing an amazing job raising her.  They have one of the best father-daughter relationships imaginable, and, Gabby is definitely her daddy's girl.  Here's a snapshot of them last year at Gabby's Father/Daughter dance:
George is a supporter of all things logical.  When my mother passed away suddenly in 2010, the absolute last thing I wanted to do was continue taking college courses towards my degree which took me 13 years to complete.  Seriously...most people have the letters, "MD" after their name at that point, not "BS" which, fittingly, follows mine.  I just didn't want to do it - I would have preferred to curl up in a ball and mope for the rest of my life.  Well, George wasn't having any of it, and, here we are at my college graduation just four months after I lost my mother:
George has made me one lucky ducky.  Despite all of my craziness, George has taken on the task of marrying me, and, is now stuck with me forever.  I now have someone to confiscate my debit cards when I am indulging in my shopaholic tendencies,  someone to throw my fat ass on the treadmill when I'd rather be napping, and, someone who just loves me for me.  I love him just the same, if not more...though I do feel bad for him sometimes when he has to talk me off the ledge during one of my rants about the day's frustrations.  I'm not quite sure George realized what he was taking on when he decided to make me his wife, but, this picture probably sums up his feelings when he fully understood what he had done on our wedding day:
Happy birthday Georgie!  I'd encourage my readers to post a festive birthday message on his Facebook page, but, he forgot his password and can't login to read said messages anymore.

Who is Suzi?

So, who is Suzi, and what is this business about, "Suzi's World?"  I'm glad you asked!

First and foremost, I am a mother.  I am the blessed ruler of a blended family that was united in 2010.  I have a 13 year old daughter, Madison, and an 11 year old son, Nicholas, from my first marriage.  October 16, 2010, I married George, and, I then became stepmother to 13 year old Gabrielle.  Yes, George and I are raising two teenage girls who, for four months of the year, will be the same age.  Therefore, it is only fair that I admit to having lots of gray hair at age 34 (I color it myself every 4-6 weeks), and, I use wrinkle cream every day and night.  I have told the children I intend to give them the bill for my first Botox injection when that time comes.

This is me!
I am a wife.  Like all husbands, mine is *amazing* and never thinks I'm irrational, stubborn, or a poor cook.  Ha!  Marriage is work and I will never deny that in my world, but, it is also a journey I would never decide to ditch early (you know, before I die).  Despite my sarcasm, my husband George does rock.  He has carried me through personal tragedy and been my biggest supporter from the day we started dating in 2008.  Though he does find my obsession with HLN and the Real Housewives of (insert any city here) to be baffling at best.

I am a Mompreneur.  I own and operate an online baby nursery boutique, LuxuryBabyNursery.com.  Running my business from home probably sounds like a dream come true, and it is considering the flexibility it gives me (I am always home when one of the kids wakes up puking on Monday morning), but, it is work...as in, a real job.  Many people think I sit home and watch HLN all day (okay, that's sort of true) but, they also don't have any grip on what I am doing on the laptop that never leaves my side for the better portion of the day.  Four years after opening my business, I've stopped explaining...I'm out of breath.

I love HLN.  Yes, as in the legal news channel.  My obsession began in the summer of 2011 during the Casey Anthony murder trial.  I won't touch that verdict with the long end of a witch's broom stick, but, I am officially hooked on the trials that change our nation and seeking justice for victims.  And yes, watching HLN does mean I love Nancy Grace.  Please don't misinterpret this affection - I wholeheartedly agree she can be terrifying, but, if something ever happened to a child I love, she'd be the first person I'd call for help.

I love celebrity gossip.  In particular, I love the Real Housewives of New Jersey and Beverly Hills, and, I don't feel bad gossiping about them.  If they didn't want me to, they wouldn't allow their lives to be televised.  My only rule is that gossip be kept clean...as in curse words and other vile commentary is not permitted.  Icky language is not ladylike and will make your face look like you just sucked on a lemon.  Forever.

I'm a shopaholic.  As in, George puts me on an allowance, leading me to find fabulous deals on the hottest finds.  Get ready for product reviews, discount dish, and much more!

I welcome comment posting - in fact I love it!  But, due to those pesky spammers, I've been left with no other choice but to approve comments before they are posted.  I promise to do my best approving your thoughts quickly!

Welcome to my world ~ stop by often!
